Gillian Brown - Varsity Cross Country & JV Girls Lacrosse
crosscountry@pinecrestacademy.org Gillian Brown served as Assistant Coach with the Varsity Cross Country program for one year, and became head coach in Fall 2018. She also serves as JV Lacrosse coach. Before joining Pinecrest, Coach Brown served as Assistant Track Coach at Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, NC, where she served as Hurdle, Long, and Triple Jump Coach. She attended Belmont Abbey College, where she ran track all four years, as a sprinter, jumper and middle distance, and ran Cross Country for two years. Coach Brown teaches High School Science at Pinecrest.
Shawn Coury - Varsity Football & Wrestling
football@pinecrestacademy.org wrestling@pinecrestacademy.org Coach Coury has served 23 seasons as a high school football coach, coaching teams from South Forsyth High School, West Forsyth High School, Cherokee High School, Holy Spirit Preparatory School, and Pinecrest Academy. His roles have included head coach, offensive coordinator, run game coordinator, offensive line coach, running backs coach, wide receivers coach, and quarterbacks coach. “I have been blessed to serve in multiple roles in many types of schools. I have had the opportunity to learn from every experience God has given. It has made me a better coach and a better leader.”
Coury’s coaching experience doesn’t end with football. He has enjoyed 18 seasons as a high school track coach for South Forsyth High School, Cherokee High School, and Pinecrest Academy. Fifteen of those seasons were spent serving as head coach.
A nationally certified strength and conditioning coach, Coury spent 13 years as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at West Forsyth High School, Cherokee High School, Holy Spirit Preparatory School, and Pinecrest Academy. “Except for the Friday Night Lights, there is nothing I love more as a coach then to work side by side with my athletes preparing them for the physical demands of their sports.”
Coury originally joined Pinecrest Academy in 2007, and his wife, Kelly, joined him as a teacher in 2014. He departed Pinecrest in 2016 to pursue an opportunity with Holy Spirit Prep, serving as the head football coach and the strength and conditioning coordinator. “Holy Spirit Prep was a great blessing for my family, we built many great relationships. While leaving HSP was difficult in leaving our new friends behind, Cumming has always been home. It was important to my family to return to Forsyth, and in doing so rejoin the Pinecrest family.”
Coury and his wife Kelly have been married for 17 years and have three children, Luke (14), Lexi (12), AND Libby (8).
Channing Hoyt - Varsity Swim & Dive
swimming@pinecrestacademy.org Coach Channing Hoyt was born in Davenport, Iowa, moving around a lot while growing up. Hoyt and family moved to Cumming, GA in 2003, where he attended and graduated from South Forsyth High School. While at South, Hoyt was a multi-sport athlete in lacrosse, cross country, swim/dive, and soccer. He received a scholarship to play lacrosse at Reinhardt University and was on the inaugural season for the program. He graduated in 2013 with a B.S. in Sports Administration. Hoyt went on to be a carpenter and started his own LLC; however, he felt led to pursue a coaching career. Prior to joining Pinecrest Academy in summer 2021, Hoyt coached women's college lacrosse for four years and coached summer lacrosse for a local travel program. Hoyt and wife, April, reside in Cumming, GA.
Jay Lynch - Boys Basketball
boysbasketball@pinecrestacademy.org Coach Lynch has been on the sidelines at Pinecrest Academy since 2004. He currently serves as the Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Basketball Team. Prior to joining Pinecrest, he served as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of Dallas where he was also recognized as an Academic All-American basketball player in 1997 and 1998.
Erin McGraw - Varsity Tennis
tennis@pinecrestacademy.org Erin McGraw has been coaching and teaching at Pinecrest Academy since 2008. She has served as Middle School Tennis Coach at Pinecrest since 2010 and as the Varsity Tennis Coach since 2014. Coach McGraw helped coach the Varsity Boys team to their first GHSA State Playoffs, making the Sweet 16 round in 2016. The Varsity Girls team made it to the GHSA Elite 8 round in 2016. McGraw also serves as the Middle and High School Theatrical Arts Teacher. She received the honor of Pinecrest Teacher of the Year in 2015-2016.
Domenic Martelli - Varsity Boys & Girls Soccer
soccer@pinecrestacademy.org Domenic Martelli has been teaching and coaching at Pinecrest Academy since 2015. Prior to coming to Pinecrest, Coach Martelli served in the following positions: Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at United States Military Academy - ARMY; Head Coach for New York Storm SC (in which they became New York State U18B Champions in 1996); Head Women's Soccer Coach at Georgia State University; Head Women's Soccer Coach at Georgia Gwinnett College. He was also part of the Eastern New York Olympic Development Staff, Georgia Olympic Development Staff, and US Soccer Region III Olympic Development Staff for many years.
Since Mr. Martelli began coaching at Pinecrest, the Boys and Girls Soccer Teams have reached the Sweet 16 and Elite 8, The Final 4 and The State A Championship game in the GHSA State Playoffs. Coach Martelli was awarded Georgia State Coach of the Year from the United Soccer Coaches association in 2019. Mr. Martelli is a Middle School Math teacher at Pinecrest and is married to wife, Kirsten. They have a daughter, Brielle, and son, Nicolas '20.
Jonathan Oshinski - Varsity Girls Basketball
girlsbasketball@pinecrestacademy.org Jonathan Oshinski is a Pinecrest alumnus (Class of 2010) and currently serves as the Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach and Middle School Baseball Coach. As a student, he played four years of varsity basketball and baseball and received a number of accolades in both sports. After graduating from Pinecrest, Oshinski attended The University of Georgia and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. In addition to his studies, Oshinski served as a team manager for the UGA women’s basketball team and Hall of Fame coach, Andy Landers, from 2013-2015. In the fall of 2015, he began working as an assistant coach for the Varsity and JV Girls Basketball teams at Oconee County High School.
Upon returning to Pinecrest in 2016, he coached the 7th grade boys’ basketball team to win the Metro-10 Championship. In 2017, he coached both the 7th and 8th grade boys’ teams and reached the championship game again with the 8th grade boys. Oshinski also coaches middle school baseball and has recently completed a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Coaching Education from Georgia Southern University.
